Can People See Your Likes on Threads? How to Check Who Liked a Post
2026-10-12
The short answer: you can see who liked a Threads post — tap the like count to open the list of accounts. And by default, other people can see your likes the same way, unless you turn on Private likes.
Here is how each part works, plus the one setting most people confuse with the other.
How to see who liked a post
- Tap the like count under the post (or "View activity")
- The list of accounts that liked it opens
- Scroll to see more of the list
For public posts, this list is public by default — anyone who can see the post can open it, not just the author. You do not notify anyone by checking it, and the post's author cannot see who viewed the list.
Can other people see your likes?
By default, yes. When you like a post, your username appears in that post's like list.
Threads gives you a way to stop that with Private likes:
- Go to Settings
- Open Privacy
- Turn on Private likes
Once it's on:
- Only you and the post's author can see that you liked it
- Your likes are hidden from your followers and from strangers
- It applies to past and future likes at once
- You can turn it off again at any time, and your likes become public again
Your own like history is always private to you: profile → menu → Your likes shows a timeline only you can see.
Hiding like counts is not the same as hiding the list
This is the part most people get wrong:
| Setting | What it hides | Is the list still visible? | | ---------------- | ------------------- | --------------------------- | | Hide like counts | The number only | Yes | | Private likes | Your name | Your name no longer appears |
So if you only hide like counts, people can't see how many likes a post has — but they can still open the like list. To keep your name out of other people's like lists, use Private likes.
Post authors have a separate option to hide the like count on their own posts, and that also does not affect the list.
Common questions
Can I see the like list without logging in? No. The list requires being logged in. If you want to read a public post and its replies without an account, use the anonymous Threads viewer.
Does Threads show who viewed my profile? No. Threads has no profile visitor list. Insights only give you aggregate numbers, never a list of names.
Why can't I see a like count? The author may have hidden it. Depending on their settings, the like list may still be visible.
How many people show up in the like list? The list scrolls, but Threads does not publish a limit, and the official API does not expose it to third-party tools.
Want to see your own engagement numbers?
The like list only shows one side of your engagement. To track your likes, replies, reposts, quotes, and views over time — plus follower growth — connect your account to Threads Dashboard.
