How to Schedule Threads Posts (App and Desktop, 2026)
2026-10-19
You can schedule Threads posts without any third-party tool. In the composer, tap the three-dot menu (…) → Schedule, pick a date and time, then tap Schedule again to confirm. Scheduled posts sit in your Drafts, where you can view, reschedule, edit or delete them. You can schedule up to 75 days ahead, but you can't schedule replies.
Threads started testing scheduling in December 2024 and rolled it out to everyone in January 2025. It's free and works on personal accounts. Here's how it works, what the limits are, and what to check when it doesn't.
How do you schedule a post on Threads? (app)
- Open the Threads app and start a new thread
- Add your text, photos or video
- Tap the three-dot menu (…) in the top-right corner of the composer
- Tap Schedule
- Choose a date and time
- Back in the composer, the scheduled time appears at the top and the Post button changes to Schedule
- Tap Schedule to confirm
The most common mistake is picking a time and forgetting that last tap. If you don't see the scheduled time at the top of the composer, the post isn't scheduled yet.
Menu labels can vary slightly by app version and language.
Can you schedule Threads posts on desktop?
Yes. On threads.com:
- Click + (Create) in the left sidebar
- Write your post
- Click the three-dot menu (…) in the composer → Schedule
- Pick the date on the calendar, set the time, and click Done
- Back in the composer, click Schedule
Desktop is handy for batching several posts or writing longer ones. Scheduled posts show up in Drafts on both the app and the web.
How do you see your scheduled posts on Threads?
Scheduled posts don't appear on your profile until they go live. They're in Drafts:
- Open the composer
- Tap the Drafts icon (next to the three-dot menu)
- Your scheduled posts are listed with their publish times
You'll get a notification when a scheduled post goes live, and it appears on your profile like any other post.
Posts scheduled in third-party tools such as Buffer or Later don't show up in Threads Drafts. Check them in that tool.
How do you edit or delete a scheduled Threads post?
Before it publishes, everything is editable from Drafts:
- Change the time: open the post's three-dot menu in Drafts and edit the publish time
- Change the text: open the post, edit it, and schedule it again
- Cancel it: three-dot menu → Delete. A deleted scheduled post never publishes
If you're still in the composer and want to drop the schedule, tap the x next to the scheduled time at the top.
How many posts can you schedule on Threads, and how far ahead?
- How far ahead: up to 75 days, per the details shared when scheduling launched to everyone.
- How many: Meta hasn't published a cap on scheduled posts. You can schedule multiple posts per day.
- Related limit: Threads lets you save up to 100 drafts per account (announced August 2024). Scheduled posts live in Drafts, so that cap may apply, but Meta hasn't said so. If you schedule in bulk, clear out old drafts first.
Can you schedule a multi-part thread?
Meta hasn't documented this. A hands-on test published in October 2026 reported that on threads.com, the Schedule option still appears when you chain posts with "Add to thread" and when the post includes a poll. The same test didn't confirm the app, and at least one other guide says posts with polls can't be scheduled. So reports conflict.
If you need to schedule a multi-part thread:
- Build and schedule it on desktop
- Open Drafts and check that every part is there
- Run one throwaway test before you rely on it for something important
Why can't I schedule a post on Threads?
| Problem | Likely cause and fix | | ------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | No Schedule option in the three-dot menu | Outdated app → update. It never appears on replies (replies can't be scheduled) | | Schedule disappeared on desktop | Reported to vanish when a text attachment is added → remove it, or schedule in the app | | Can't pick a date past 75 days | That's the limit. Keep it within 75 days | | Post went live immediately, or isn't there | You picked a time but didn't tap the final Schedule button. Check Drafts | | Third-party scheduler fails | Usually an expired connection → reconnect your Threads account |
Third-party tools publish through the official Threads API, which allows up to 250 API-published posts per account in a 24-hour period. Normal posting won't come close.
Do scheduled posts get less reach on Threads?
Meta has never said scheduled posts are penalized. The real risk is behavioral: scheduled posts make it easy to post and walk away. When scheduling launched, Adam Mosseri framed it as giving people more control to plan posts while still encouraging real-time conversation, which is why replies can't be scheduled.
To get more out of a scheduled post:
- Be online around the publish time so you can answer early replies and keep the conversation going
- Schedule for when your followers are active. Your own data beats any average; see Best Time to Post on Threads
- Check length before you schedule. Posts max out at 500 characters; the Threads character counter checks it for you
Threads native scheduler vs. third-party tools
| Need | Native scheduler | Third-party tool | | ----------------------------------------- | ---------------- | ----------------------- | | Free | Yes | Usually paid or limited | | Calendar view / bulk upload | No | Usually yes | | Schedule several networks at once | No | Yes | | Scheduled posts visible in Threads Drafts | Yes | No |
For one account posting a few times a day, the built-in scheduler is enough.
