Threads Monetization 2026: Requirements, Countries, Bonus Program

    2026-10-14

As of 2026, Threads does not pay creators directly. There's no open payout program, no ad revenue share, no subscriptions and no tipping. Meta ran an invite-only Threads bonus program starting in 2024, but it wound down in 2025. People who make money on Threads today do it indirectly, through affiliate links, brand deals and selling their own products.

That applies to India, the Philippines, Pakistan, Korea, Japan and every other country where people search for "Threads monetization". Below: what the bonus program was, who qualified, what changed in 2026, and what actually works now.

    ThreadsDashboard Analytics Overview

    Does Threads pay creators?

Not as a standard feature. Here's the state of each option in 2026:

    | Way to earn | Available on Threads in 2026? | | ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- | | Bonus program (pay per post views) | No. Invite-only test that ended in 2025 | | Ad revenue share | No. Ads run on Threads, but creators get no share | | Subscriptions | No | | Tips or gifts | No | | Brand deals (paid partnership) | Yes. Arranged by you, with the paid partnership label | | Affiliate links | Yes. With disclosure | | Selling your own products | Yes. Via profile links and posts |

Threads ads went global in late January 2026. Businesses can now pay to run ads to all Threads users, but none of that ad money goes to the creators whose posts the ads appear next to.

What was the Threads bonus program?

The Threads bonus program was an invite-only test that Meta started in 2024. Selected creators could earn bonuses when their posts reached view targets within a set period.

    Reported rules:

    • Each qualifying post needed a minimum number of views. The threshold commonly reported was 2,500+ views per post
    • Posts didn't count if they contained copyrighted material, were branded content (sponsored), had no text, or had boosted (paid) views
    • Payouts were tracked in the Instagram professional dashboard

Meta never published a general rulebook. The figures above come from creators who were invited and shared their dashboards.

When did the Threads bonus program end?

In 2025. Sources disagree on the month (March, April and July are all reported), but they agree on the outcome: payouts wound down and the program stopped taking new creators. If you see screenshots of Threads bonus earnings, they're almost certainly from the 2024–2025 test.

What are the Threads monetization requirements?

For the bonus program, these were the reported requirements:

    1. An invitation from Meta. You couldn't apply. Invitations appeared in the Instagram professional dashboard
    2. A professional Instagram account, either creator or business, linked to your Threads profile
    3. Compliance with Meta's Partner Monetization Policies and content monetization policies
    4. Residence in an eligible country where Meta was testing bonuses

Is it really 1,000 followers and 60 posts?

You'll see lists like "1,000 followers, 60 posts, 5 posts with 750+ views" shared widely, especially in Korean and Indian creator circles. These were never official Meta rules. They were guesses from creators trying to reverse-engineer who got invited. Even the people sharing them noted that hitting the numbers didn't guarantee an invite, and some invited creators had fewer followers. With the program ended, those numbers don't qualify you for anything now.

Which countries are eligible for Threads monetization?

None, in the sense of an open program. The bonus test was invite-only, and most reports say it centered on US creators.

    • Older country lists are unreliable. Some 2025 posts claimed the bonus was available in about 13 countries, including the UK, India, Japan, Mexico, Australia and Germany. Newer sources contradict this, and Meta never published a list. Treat those lists as unconfirmed.
    • A possible new program is unconfirmed. One Japanese report in April 2026 described a new creator revenue share centered on the US. Several mid-2026 sources say no such program exists. Until Meta announces it, assume there isn't one.

Is Threads monetization available in India?

No. As of 2026, Indian Threads accounts have no bonus program, ad revenue share or subscription tool. The same is true for Pakistan and the Philippines. Indian creators who earn from Threads do it through affiliate programs, brand collaborations and their own products.

Is Threads monetization available in Korea or Japan?

No. Neither country has an official Threads payout program in 2026. Korean creators mostly earn through affiliate links, such as Coupang Partners posts with the required commission disclosure, and through brand-sponsored posts. Japanese reports through 2026 note no announcement of monetization starting in Japan.

How do people actually make money on Threads?

The platform doesn't pay you, but your audience can. These are the methods that work in every country:

    1. Affiliate links

Recommend products you use and link with an affiliate code. Disclose it clearly in the post: it's required by advertising rules in most countries and by Meta's branded content policies. Affiliate posts work best inside a niche your followers already trust you on.

    2. Brand deals

Brands pay creators to mention or review products. Use the paid partnership label on sponsored posts. Brands decide based on your audience and engagement, so you need to show numbers: views per post, replies, follower growth, and who your followers are.

    3. Selling your own products or services

Coaching, templates, courses, consulting, physical products. Threads lets you add up to five links to your profile, so you can point to a shop, booking page or landing page. Your posts build trust, and the link converts it.

    4. Driving traffic to a newsletter or community

Many creators use Threads as the top of the funnel and earn elsewhere: a paid newsletter, a membership or a YouTube channel that does pay out. Link clicks are reported to be tracked in Threads, so you can see which posts send people off-platform.

All four depend on the same thing: an engaged audience in a clear niche. See how to grow on Threads and how the Threads algorithm works for what Meta has confirmed about reach.

How to show brands your Threads numbers

Native Threads Insights gives you up to 90 days of views, interactions, followers and audience demographics (demographics need 100 followers). See how to read Threads Insights.

For a media kit you usually want more than 90 days, and per-post rankings. Threads Dashboard connects through the official Threads API (read-only, no password needed) and tracks follower growth, views, likes, replies, reposts and quotes for each post over time. You can sort your posts by views or engagement and export them to CSV for a pitch deck. The Pro plan keeps 365+ days of history.

Watch out for Threads monetization scams

Because people want the bonus program, scammers use it as bait. Red flags:

    • "Unlock your Threads bonus" for a fee, or through a link that asks you to log in. There's no program to unlock, and Meta never charges for one
    • "Comment X and I'll send you the method", followed by a DM with a paid course or a "trading group"
    • Selling followers or views to "qualify". Bought followers don't engage, and boosted views were excluded from the old bonus program anyway
    • Fake Meta messages asking for your password or two-factor code. Meta doesn't DM you for these

If something asks you to pay to be paid, it's a scam.

Will Threads add monetization in the future?

Possibly. Meta now earns from Threads ads, and competing platforms pay creators, so a creator program is plausible. But Meta has made no public commitment or timeline. If an invite arrives, it will show up in your Instagram professional dashboard. You can't apply in advance.

Until then, building an audience is the work that pays off either way. If a program does launch, invited creators are likely to be the ones with consistent, original posts and real engagement. That's what Mosseri has said Threads prioritizes.

The free plan of Threads Dashboard never expires, so you can start keeping your history now. Pro is $9.99/month.

    FAQ

How much does Threads pay per 1,000 views?

Nothing. Threads has no per-view payout in 2026. Figures you see online come from the ended 2024–2025 bonus test, where invited creators earned bonuses for hitting view targets, not a fixed rate per 1,000 views.

How do I join the Threads bonus program?

You can't. It was invite-only and has ended. There was never an application form.

Can I earn from Threads ads?

No. Threads ads launched to all users in January 2026, but there is no revenue share for creators.

Do I need a professional account to make money on Threads?

Not for affiliate links or selling your own products. For the old bonus program you needed a professional (creator or business) Instagram account, and brands often prefer creator accounts because of the partnership tools.

Is Threads monetization available in the Philippines or Pakistan?

No. Neither country has an official Threads payout program as of 2026.
